Round 11 is slated for Monday, May 16, 2011. Only 5 foursomes left! We have not been successful with tennis registration. We will keep tennis open until next Monday, May 9.

So my first dress shirt showed up a few days ago. Looks great! I just need to try it on and make sure it fits just perfectly and then they'll send me the rest of my shirts.

So far I have received my two golf shirts. They are beautiful. They fit perfectly (they're custom made!). They were $65 each and well worth it.

So Diane from J. Hillburn came by the house this week to measure and go through fabrics for some new shirts (and a donation to KatesFoundation ;-). The fabrics are great and the order is in.

We are big fans of Bruce Springsteen - Always - and now he has joined the fight against melanoma.

There has been much talk over the past few weeks about the benefits of the sun. One thing to remember about sunscreen is that it does in fact block out any of the benefits of the sun's rays... such as Vitamin D. The WSJ had a decent article yesterday talking about the issue and Michael Holick's take on "sensible sun exposure." It's well worth a read...

In this YouTube video, Dr. Susan Swetter of Stanford describes the technique of examining high risk patients for signs of melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer.

UVA rays are often referred to as the "aging rays" because of its unique characteristics:

• pass through glass (office & cars)
• penetrate deep into the skin layers
• are present ALL 365 calendar days regardless of weather or altitude
• are 20 times more abundant than UVB

UVB rays are considered burning rays because they cause sunburn and tanning; and vary with seasons, i.e., stronger in the summer

Choose sun block with "broad spectrum protection"- (which provides protection form BOTH UVA and UVB rays)

A true fact not widely known. Melanoma is not restricted to "the Irish skin types".
